The Cluffy Wedge is trademarked and commercially available pad that goes under the hallux or big toe to hold it in a slightly dorsiflexed position. It can be applied in the shoe or under an insole or be incorporated into an extension on a foot orthotic. It was developed by Dr James Clough, DPM and can be purchased here.
The Cluffy Wedge is indicated for foot conditions such as functional hallux limitus as holding in the big toe in a slightly dorsiflexed position will facilitate the movement at the joint during gait. The pad would also be very useful in conditions related to a delay in the establishing the windlass mechanism.
