COVID toes or chilblains in those with a SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) infection first started being noticed in case reports in early 2020 and then as case series in publications with the chilblains in those with COVID-19 appearing more frequently than the normal background incidence of chilblains.
Subsequent research has shown a higher prevalence of chilblains in those with COVID-19 (COVID toes), but population studies to determine the overall prevalence of COVID toes are lacking on just how common it is, but it is not very common.
The treatment of COVID toes is the same as that of “regular” chilblains, but is done in the context of the overall management of the COVID-19 infection.
