aching feet

What causes tired legs and feet?

Feet and legs that ache, especially after a hard day at work standing on your feet all day is very common. You can’t wait to get home from work and kick your shoes off and get off your feet.

Some of these are due to a specific problem like plantar fasciitis or posterior tibial tendon dysfunction. Some may be due to vascular conditions such as varicose veins.

Most of these tired aching feet and legs are simply overuse, especially if you are standing all day on a hard floor at work. Our feet are just not adapted to standing all day in footwear that may not be appropriate. Being overweight also adds to the problem, putting even more load and pressure on the foot. Being restricted in the type of footwear you have to wear can also contribute to the problem.

Poor foot biomechanics is also often an issue for those who have the tired and aching feet and legs. The problems with the biomechanics just overloads the structures of the lower limb.

The best you can do to ease or soothe those aching tired feet, especially at the end of a long work day is to make sure that you are using the best shoes that you can. Running shoes are good for this as they are supportive and have a lot of cushioning.

Some sort of foot support is going to be very helpful – this may need to be a custom made foot orthotic device from a podiatrist or may only need to be a simple arch support that you can buy. The exact nature of your problem will determine which one is the best for you.
