Do night splints help plantar fasciitis?

Yes, they do tend to help. However, there is a bit of a but here.

Plantar fasciitis is a common, yet somewhat complex condition. There is not really one cure for everyone and the different responses of individuals to different treatments can vary. This means to make any one specific recommendation to everyone (or anyone) can be somewhat risky. Plantar fasciitis seems to respond much better to a suite of treatments rather than one specific treatment.

Tight calf muscles are a common and well documented risk factor for plantar fasciitis. So whatever is done to help someone with plantar fasciitis, stretching the calf muscles are an important component of that suite of treatments. This needs to be done at least daily for at least a few minute each time.

Night splints can help plantar fasciitis by adding to or helping with this very important calf muscle stretching. On there own, they may not fix the plantar fasciitis, but when used as the suite of treatments the night splints are an important aid for this.

The night splints also seem to be particularly useful at helping with that first step pain (post-static dyskinesia) that is so common in plantar fasciitis.
