How to use a Budin Toe Splint?

The Budin toe splint is a splint or brace that can be used to restrict movement of a toe or toes or to try to straighten or realign the toe. It is useful for a flexible hammer toe and claw toes. It is also used as a brace following surgery. The splint can also be useful for plantar plate tears.

The Budin toe splints are commercially available and come with one, two or three loops for one, two or three toes depending on what clinical effect is needed. They are simply placed over the toe and the adjustable elastic strap is tighten to hold the toe or toes.

The Budin Toe Splint is named after Dr Harry A. Budin who was a podiatrist and author the the 1941 book, Principles and Practice of Orthodigita.
